Caseworker
Job Description
Accountability: The Caseworker works along side of the Senior Caseworker on issues relating to Client Management Services. The Caseworker is also responsible to the directions of the Stolen Generation Manager. The Management Committee of the Central Australian Stolen Generations & Families Aboriginal Corporation (CASG&FAC) is the governing body for the organization.
Award: As specified in the Employment Contract and the Tangentyere Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) 2006. The position is equivalent to Level 4.4
Salary Range: As at Friday 19th September 2008, the salary is $49674 per annum, plus Salary Sacrifice.
Period of Employment An initial contract will be offered for the period until 30th March 2009. Subject to satisfactory performance and confirmation of Commonwealth Government Funding for CASG&FAC beyond March 2009, CASG&FAC reserves the option to offer extensions to the employment contract on an annual basis.
Significant Specifications:
To assist Stolen Generations clients separated from their families under the past laws, practices and policies of Australian Governments and due to social circumstances
To assist Stolen Generations clients experiencing separation from their families under the current practices and policies of Australian government departments and due to social circumstances
To perform the core activities of the Central Australian Stolen Generations Link-Up Services program including, client assessment, guidance and support, family tracing research, reunion management and ongoing support.
Travel to remote areas to provide core activities to clients living in remote areas and to undertake family tracing research
Assist in the development of programs appropriate to Stolen Generations clients
Ensure that client’s records are maintained (as outlined in the Best Practice Models)
Record data on the FOXTROT database system for Program Performance Indicators (PPI)
Assess the needs of the clients and facilitate case management in conjunction with Senior Caseworker to meet their needs
Collect written and oral evidence and analyse data as collected
Conduct reunions adhering to reunion management processes
Provide guidance and support to clients and their families
Identify the counselling needs of clients and identify those clients at risk
Abide by the confidentiality agreements, policies and Best Practice Models of the corporation
Liaise with caseworkers employed in other State and Territory National Link-Up services re casework as required.
Maintain a clean and tidy workplace.

Selection Criteria
POSITION: Caseworker

QUALIFICATIONS: Recognised skills relevant to family tracing research and reunion management.
ORGANISATION: Central Australian Stolen Generation & Families Aboriginal Corporation (CASG&FAC)
Applicants are to address the following Selection Criteria in writing:
1. Demonstrated ability to conduct research to assist clients in family tracing and reunion management activities including collecting data, examining and interpreting records.
2. A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues affecting the Stolen Generations
3. A demonstrated ability to undertake research activities,
4. Demonstrated skills in basic computers operations, including recording data on data base systems
5. A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including conducting interviews and assessing clients needs and preparing reunion proposals
6. A demonstrated ability to provide support and guidance to clients throughout the process of their healing journey
7. A demonstrated ability to adhere to Best Practise Model, policies and guidelines to ensure effective services delivery
8. A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures
9. Drivers licence and NT police clearance
