Projects
CASG&FAC is currently managing and completing the following projects:
Unmarked Graves Project
We have installed 18 crosses on previously unmarked graves at the Alice Springs Memorial Cemetery. We will be installing a commemorative plaque and then will invite family members to attend a dedication event at the cemetery. We will be in touch with you all soon.
We would like to acknowledge the Alice Springs Town Council for their help with this project.
Garden of Reflection
We have a number of plants planted by Stolen Generations members and their families. We will be placing permanent plaques where the trees are planted to remember who planted them and to welcome you all to go back year after year to check on your tree's progress. While visiting you will also appreciate the garden as a place for reflection.
Please contact us if you would like directions on visiting the garden.
We would like to acknowledge the Desert Knowledge Precinct and the Conservation Volunteers for their help with this project.
Oral Histories
CASG&FAC has purchased professional quality Video and Audio Equipment. We are wanting to record as many people's stories as we possibly can. If you would like to come in and tell your story or if you would like us to come out to you, please get in touch so we can have your story on tape for our archives and also provide a dvd copy for you and your family.
• Call our office to make an appointment so we can arrange a time
I am proud and happy to be working in this very challenging role for CAS&FAC. We have many interesting projects in the pipeline and the sky is the limit in terms of what we can hope to achieve.
Further
Apart from the projects mentioned above we are working on an educational project that will help to raise awareness of Stolen Generations issues to the wider public. We have a couple of members who have expressed an interest in going out to schools and giving talks to school kids. We also welcome any of your input into how we might best raise awareness for this vital objective.
Thank you and I hope to see you in our office soon,
Derek Ah Chee-McInnes, CASG&FAC Project Officer.
