Our Link-Up Service

Our Family Tracing and Reunion (Link-Up) Service is funded by the Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH) within the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing and is part of the National Link-Up Service.  The National Aim of the Link-Up Service is-

‘To assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people separated from their families under past laws, practices and policies of Australian governments, to undertake family tracing and reunion initiatives.'

In December 2005, all the Link-Up Services in each state and territory entered into a Memorandum of Understanding that establishes the framework for the Link-Up Services to work together to assist people undertaking family tracing. (See the National Link-Up MOU here)

Confidentiality

All staff are obliged to adhere to CASG&FAC's confidentiality agreement to ensure that clients' rights are protected and to maintain a professional service.

The National Link-Up Services agree to maintain confidentiality and to respect the views of the clients and their families.

. Please note that the Link-Up Service cannot assist with child protection cases

 

Eligibility Criteria - Potential Clients

. Must be of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent

. Must reside or have been removed from the Central Australian Region

. Must undertake an initial assessment for registration
